Hi,

SPLAT or SecurePlatform is a hardened version of Linux running Check Point. You can easily install it and Check Point added a little shell with basic commands so you don't need to be a Linux guru to configure it. You can run it on appliances (UTM-1/Power-1) or on any supported server (most HP/Dell servers are supported or working). It is not a special architecture like a Cisco ASA or Juniper SSG.

If you are new, you can run both SmartCenter and firewall on the same physical box. If you want to test a cluster, you need to install the SmartCenter on a seperate box (Smartcenter software is also made for Windows and Solaris). For testing purposes you can use VMWare images if you want. SPLAT runs fine in vmware server 1 and 2.

If you just want to play with the GUI (SmartDashboard), it has a demo mode so you can play around with only the GUI client installed on your pc (add/change rules, view sample logging)

So story is Chechpoint firewall can be installed on linux !
It does not need speacial hardware like ASA or PIX !!!!
and smart center manages it using GUI or Command line !!!

any topology is dere that cn explain how its actually work
!!!
liike
A(destop workstation)-->switch -->router-->firwall(my linux machine)-->modem(isp)

So this lunix machine need at least 2 Ethernet slot so that it can attach to both !

For firewall what product should i use ??
Smart center Huh

Hi,

This datasheet explains a bit about the architecture. you basically have a management server called smartcenter which manages the firewalls (security gateways) and receives logs from them. The GUI client called SmartDashboard connects to the smartcenter and is used to manage the policies/...
